Karachi halwa is a chewy Indian dessert loaded with the goodness of almonds, pistachios,cashews and other dry fruits.
But today i have used only cashews and almonds. You can use any dry fruit of your choice.
Ingredients (1 cup = 250 ML)
for corn flour mixture:
corn flour / corn starch - ½ cup
cup water - 1cup
other ingredients:
sugar - 1cup
water - 1cup
lemon juice - 1tsp
ghee / clarified butter - 2tsp
cashews/almonds chopped - 3tsp
cardamom powder / elachi powder - ¼ tsp
few drops of red food colour / colour of your choice
you can use some almonds to garnish the halwa (optional)
Method :
1.Take a bowl and mix water and corn flour without any lumps. Keep aside.
2.In kadai/non stick pan add water when it boils add sugar. Keep stirring till the syrup is ready then add lemon juice.
3.Add corn flour miture slowly to the sugar syrup and stir continuously.
4.Stir till thicken. When it turns glossy add ghee and stir till the ghee releases from sides.
5.Add food color and add chopped nut(alomonds/cashews).
6.Continue to mix till mixture will start to form a lump.
7.Later, Transfer to ghee greased plate and set for an hour or two.
8.Finally, cut to a desired shape and serve.
