VIDEO NOTES
Welcome to this episode of Diagnosing with Derek where today we're looking at a pushed in wall. As you can see behind me, there's a crack at a 45 degree angle of this wall and the inside of the basement, very common when a wall begins to push in due to hydrostatic pressure that the wall will crack on the inside at an angle. And you'll also see on the outside of houses, cracks typically 8 to 12 inches off the corners. Also, sometimes you'll see where the beam pocket is poking a chunk of cement out on the side of the house itself. A lot of different things that can happen as walls begin to push in.
The other thing that's really common with pushed in walls is actually water. Of course, as this wall cracks, we begin to see an opening for water to get into the basement, so water leaks and walls pushing in tend to go together. So if you're seeing any of the signs of inward movement on your walls, whether it's cracks on the inside, cracks in the outside, beam pocket poking out or even water coming in the basement can be an indicator hidden behind a wall that the wall has movement. If you're seeing that, give us a call. We'll send out one of our trained system design specialists that have special tools to help measure, including lasers, to see exactly what's going on with your home. Thanks for watching.
