In a shocking incident from Rawalpindi, thieves have stolen batteries from a flood warning device installed in Nullah Lai. According to the FIR registered at Pirwadhai Police Station, the device was gifted by Japan in 2004 to help warn authorities and citizens about flood dangers. The culprits broke the locks and removed the batteries, potentially putting lives at risk during the monsoon season.
Meanwhile, the mystery behind last week’s flooding in Islamabad’s high-security Diplomatic Enclave — especially outside the Embassy of the Netherlands — has been solved. CDA authorities have revealed that during the construction of Jinnah Square Interchange at Serena Chowk, debris fell into a 40-foot-deep drain on Srinagar Highway. This blockage caused the rainwater to accumulate. After nearly a week, the blocked drain was discovered, cleaned, and the water drainage was restored successfully.
This video brings you the full details of negligence, theft, and engineering missteps that led to avoidable urban flooding in the twin cities of Pakistan.
