Camping gear follows the law of diminishing returns and wild camping doesn’t have to be expensive. As a beginner buy modest from reputable brands and then upgrade when you actually know what you need.

3) Key wild camping principles
a) Leave no trace - Leave the area you are camping in as you found it or better!
b) Arrive late leave early - A good rule of thumb is to arrive 1 hour before sunset and leave 1 hour after sunrise to reduce chances of running into other people. The wilder your spot the more leeway you have with this.
c) Camp fires - Don’t (and if you choose to ignore this keep them small and make an extra effort to clear up after yourself)
