A tranquil coastal wander through Marazion, one of Cornwall’s oldest towns, and across the storied path that leads to the island fortress of St Michael’s Mount. The sea glimmers, the gulls wheel, and the tidal causeway stretches out like a thread of history across the sand. Even when the island gates are closed, the walk itself feels like a pilgrimage—part seaside stroll, part step through legend.

🕰️ Highlights, History & Local Lore
Marazion is often seen as the gateway to St Michael’s Mount, but it’s more than just a starting point. Once a bustling medieval market town and trading port, it has been settled since at least the 12th century. Its name is thought to come from the old Cornish for “Thursday market,” hinting at its lively past. Today, it’s a quiet blend of galleries, old inns, and sea-facing cottages, where the view across Mount’s Bay dominates every turn.

At low tide, the granite causeway appears—an ancient walkway linking the mainland to the island. Walking it feels almost surreal: one moment you’re on the beach, the next you’re following smooth stones laid by centuries of feet. The sound of water laps softly on either side, and the mount looms closer, crowned with its castle and chapel perched high above the rock.

Even from the shore, St Michael’s Mount commands attention. Legends tie it to the Archangel Michael himself, who was said to have appeared here to fishermen in the 5th century. Over time it became a monastery, a fortress, and a family home—its silhouette forever entwined with Cornwall’s coastline.

The causeway eventually sinks beneath the returning tide, erasing the path until the sea decides to reveal it again. Standing there, watching the water rise, you feel time slow—a reminder that some places don’t just exist, they endure.

I use DaVinci Resolve Studio 20 for basic colour correction, mainly to tone down overexposed skies. The videos go straight from camera to YouTube—no cuts, no talking, no fancy business. Just walking.
