Описание: Hundreds of ostriches at Universal Ostrich farm in B.C. are facing a cull due to a detection of avian flu last December. Dr. Scott Weese, a Canada Research Chair in zoonotic diseases and an infectious diseases veterinarian at the University of Guelph says that, while scientists could revisit alternatives to a cull in unique circumstances, the Universal Ostrich case has dragged on and become politicized. He adds that the priority for Canada must be to control high-risk viruses.
