I tried my hand at the viral spackle wall art DIY … that’s a mouth full!

DISCLAIMER: I will indeed be painting over the spackle so it doesn’t blend in with the canvas as much. I love the natural look, but it is fairly hard to see the texture from far away, and I really want it to pop a bit more.

This DIY was so easy, and I had it done in a half hour. I have never spackled anything, so I had no idea how easy this would be to work with, and definitely didn’t think it would come out this cool! The spackle didn't dry too fast, so it was easy to work with, and it spread rather easily on the canvas. By the time I got to my largest canvas, I had just enough spackle to finish the entire thing. I ended up scraping the container with the smallest spackle knife, and using that to apply it to the canvas, and then I went in with the largest spackle knife to spread it throughout the canvas. After I finished spreading it all out, I took a large sponge that I found in the painting section of Hobby Lobby, and this ended up totally making the DIY project come together! It was hands down my favorite element.

I wanted to find some large cohesive wall art that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, and it turns out I was able to make my own.
