US tech giant Amazon said it has blocked more than 1,800 job applications linked to suspected North Korean operatives trying to secure remote IT roles. The company has said the attempts were deliberate, with applicants hiding their real identities to get hired, earn salaries, and send money back to Pyongyang. US and South Korean authorities have warned that the funds are used to support North Korea’s weapons and cyber programmes. Investigators have said operatives use “laptop farms," US-based computers controlled remotely from abroad, to bypass security checks and sanctions, raising serious national security concerns.
