G'day guys. Today we're doing a Australis Broodlift . I decided to broodlift because the motherhive had too much honey surrounding the brood to do a clean split. Removing the brood and some food was really easy and setting the hives up as a standard duplication works perfectly. I did have to transfer a queen cell from another colony into the daughter hive. Once that queen cell was nearly ready to hatch I disconnected the hives. Bee numbers remained good enough in the daughter so I didn't bother hooking it back up to the motherhive. They are going great. There is no reason why you couldn't propagate all Australis this way instead of splitting. It just depends on how the brood presents in the motherhive.
