SC SLAM POLICE ACTION ON STUDENTS PROTESTORS AND ORDER AN SIT TO PROBE MISHANDLING

The Supreme Court has ordered an *independent SIT* led by a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate allegations arising from the student protest.

The Court also directed:
📌 Release of students with no criminal record.
📌 Preservation of CCTV, drone footage, body-camera recordings, PCR logs, and wireless communications.
📌 No coercive action against eligible students.
📌 Protection of protesters' personal and digital data.

The Court has *not declared anyone guilty**. It has held that the allegations are serious enough to warrant an independent investigation. Meanwhile, the government told the Court that around **250 police personnel were also injured* and supported an independent probe.

With the next hearing on *3 August**, the question now is: **Will accountability finally be fixed?*
