📍Porto Flavia is one of the most fascinating sites in Sardinia — a unique blend of industrial innovation and stunning landscape.

🛠️Built in 1924, it was designed by Venetian engineer Cesare Vecelli to serve the Vieille Montagne mining company, which extracted silver and other minerals from the region. It was named after Vecelli’s eldest daughter, Flavia — a personal and touching tribute.

⚙️Before Porto Flavia, workers had to manually load minerals onto small sailboats, which then carried them to San Pietro Island for shipping.With the new structure, minerals could be loaded directly onto cargo ships from the cliffside — a revolutionary improvement.

The plant was eventually abandoned in the 1960s as mining declined, but today, Porto Flavia stands as a monument to ingenuity and offers breathtaking views over the sea and Pan di Zucchero rock.
