Ingredients:
1 pack of phyllo dough sheets
½ cup melted butter (for brushing the phyllo dough)
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup ricotta or mascarpone cheese (optional, for a creamier filling)
Honey or powdered sugar (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Phyllo Pastry:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface. Brush with melted butter.
Layer 2-3 more sheets on top, brushing each with butter.
Roll the phyllo dough tightly into a log shape.
Place the rolled pastry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Repeat with the rest of the phyllo dough.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
2. Prepare the Vanilla Cream Filling:
In a bowl, whisk the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
If you prefer a richer filling, fold in ricotta or mascarpone cheese.
Chill the cream in the refrigerator while the pastries bake.
3. Assemble:
Once the phyllo rolls are baked and cooled, use a sharp knife to cut them into bite-sized pieces.
Pipe or spoon the vanilla cream into each piece (you can also dip one end in the cream).
4. Serve:
Drizzle with honey or dust with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.
