We went for a gentle walk at Carine Regional Open Space with Chiqui.
The video begins in a wide open field, then slowly moves into a more wooded area. There’s a slightly swampy lake — luckily not dry yet — where the landscape feels calm and alive.
Halfway through, we hear the laughter of two kookaburras. Even with ambient music playing, I kept their sound in the background.
When we reach the dog run area, Chiqui does everything she can to keep her distance. She still remembers the time we tried to take her into one — she doesn’t like dogs, and even less so the big ones.
Near the end, I was lucky enough to film a South-western snake-necked turtle. As soon as it noticed us, it quickly slipped back into the water — much faster than you’d expect, and probably for the best in a park full of dogs.
The walk ends at the car park, where Chiqui sniffs every car until she finds ours. A small game we always play.
