Every penny raised went straight to testicular cancer research. Because if you're going to make a fool of yourself, you might as well do it for a good cause.

Let’s not forget to tip our hats to the mastermind behind this absurdly wonderful invention: Aquilino Cosani of Ledragomma, an Italian company known for producing rubber balls. In 1968, Cosani patented the "Pon-Pon" in Italy, and by 1971, he'd secured a patent in the United States as well. The British got their first taste of the space hopper in 1969, and the rest, as they say, is history.
