A note on sponsorships v. advertisements:
Before I started doing brand deals on YouTube, I thought sponsorships and ads were somewhat interchangeable, but it turns out that the two are very different in legal terms. Both involve a brand giving you money for a video, but with a sponsorship, the brand has no editorial control over the content of the video, other than the "thanks to [X] company bit". For an ad, on the other hand, the company has editorial control, which means they get to control what I say in the rest of the video. All ads must be disclosed in either the title or thumbnail of the video, and in any tweets/posts etc. linking to the video, giving you the viewer the choice whether or not to click on it before watching. In a sponsorship however, the disclaimer simply needs to be made clear during the video. I hope this clears things up for people, and I hope to do a lot more sponsored videos in the future, as they provide me with a lot more revenue than AdSense, whilst providing you with the same videos from me you're used to.
