This one came after realizing I’d spent years mourning a version of life that never actually happened — the neat, straight-line story I thought things were supposed to follow.
One morning on the Gulf Coast, coffee going warm in my hand, pelicans working the water like they always do, something shifted.
Not the view — the looking.
This song is about that moment when you finally notice the life that’s been here the whole time.
Crooked edges, beautiful mess and all.
The music leans into that slow realization — brushed drums, wandering bass, Strat jangle, violin and fuzz guitar trading lines the way thoughts move when you finally stop trying to control them.
It’s a song about almost missing your own life… and then not missing it.
