On February 25, 2025, authorities received a call about human remains found in a body of water in Fayetteville. DNA testing confirmed on March 28, 2025, that the dismembered torso belonged to Bonnell. Cloud was arrested the same day at her residence without incident. The investigation revealed that Bonnell had planned to divorce Cloud, which may have been a motive. She is currently held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center, with her next court date set for April 17, 2025
