Pentagon chief Hegseth unveils sweeping military reforms at rare generals' gathering

In a nearly 50-minute address, Hegseth criticized past political interference that he said weakened the military’s effectiveness, pledging to restore the “War Department’s” combat power by eliminating distractions.

His directives include tougher physical fitness standards, stricter grooming rules, and a review of policies on toxic leadership, bullying, and oversight procedures.

Following his remarks, President Donald Trump addressed the gathering for over an hour, attacking “radical left Democrats” and warning of “internal invasion.”
