Iran has given its own equally bellicose warning in response - after declaring earlier that conducting diplomacy through military threats was neither effective nor useful.
Meanwhile, amid the escalating rhetoric, we have been speaking to a doctor inside Iran who reveals that injured demonstrators were being executed in their hospital beds while seeking treatment.
They've told us how security forces, including the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, entered hospitals and killed patients as they lay wounded and defenceless.
