Welcome to The Throwback Series! On Thursdays, I upload train action from the past.
Intro song: "The Sunburn Song" by Semi-Gloss
Early on Sunday, April 6, 2014, I got to the tracks for one of Union Pacific's commemorative heritage locomotives, the UP 1989 (Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad) in the consist of a "high-priority intermodal." After a first shot of it on the Chester Subdivision I follow it on the Mount Vernon Subdivision (from Gorham to Salem ... ex-Missouri Pacific Railroad, née Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad) where on the latter, it then has to make a meet with southbound traffic at Hurst.
TIMESTAMPS:
(0:00) Intro
(0:37) UP ZMXDT, Oakwood Bottoms
(2:08) UP ZMXDT, De Soto
*The track below is Canadian National's Centralia Subdivision (former Illinois Central). Please excuse the passing cars in the foreground, this shot was rushed.*
(2:31) UP ZMXDT in the siding, Bush
(2:49) UP ZYCMXC on the main, Bush
(4:14) UP ZMXDT departs Bush
Train 1: UP ZMXDT 04 (Laredo, TX [KCSM via Mexico City, MX] - Detroit, MI Livernois Yard [CSX])
UP 4847 SD70M
UP 1989 SD70ACe
Train 2: UP ZYCMXC 05 (Dolton, IL Yard Center - Laredo, TX [KCSM to Mexico City, MX])
UP 4930 SD70M
UP 5174 SD70M
Director's commentary: At Bush (which I identify in the video as Hurst instead, but they’re adjacent to each other regardless), two trains were coming south to meet ZMXDT – MTTPB ran ahead of ZYCMXC – but I chose to omit my footage of the former out of this video.
