In this video, I’m at Moto Baldock Services courtesy of EVA England for the launch of one of the first GRIDSERVE eHGV Electric Freightway hubs, designed to charge electric HGVs directly from the UK motorway network.

I talk to Sam Clarke, Head of eHGV at GRIDSERVE, and Daniel Kunkel, CEO of GRIDSERVE, about how hard this has been to deliver, how much power electric trucks really need, and what has to happen next to decarbonise freight.

We also hear from an electric truck driver about what these vehicles are like to drive, how long they take to charge — and the big question: does the cost of public rapid charging make sense?

Standing next to silent electric trucks charging while diesel lorries rumble past really does feel like a glimpse of the future — and in many ways, it’s already here.
