After many years of experimenting with replacing pickups on a guitar, I realized that when replacing pickups, the sound of the guitar does not change radically. The sound of the guitar remains almost the same, the difference is only in frequencies, I think, and a little bit of tone. That is, if you install Custom Shop Pickups on the American Pro, it will not sound like a real Custom Shop Guitar. And that the same pickups on different guitars sound differently. That is, if you install pickups from Gibson on Ibanez, Ibanez will not become Gibson. In this experiment, I used a Fender American Professional one guitar. I changed pickups 6 times. And the further I changed pickups, the more I didn't like the sound of the guitar. The sound of the guitar got worse and worse. I installed Dimarzio, Fender Texas Special, Fat 50s, Tex-Mex, Original 57/62, and Eric Johnson pickups and for the seventh time I went back to the original, native pickups that were originally installed on this guitar, these are Fender V - MOD pickups . And the sound became as good as it was at first. My conclusion is this, and this is my subjective opinion, that if you buy a guitar such as a Fender Ultra, and then for some reason you want to change the pickups to Vintage, then it is better not to change anything, but better to buy a Vintage guitar. That is, if you bought a guitar and you like it, then it is better not to replace anything, because the sound of the guitar is not only affected by pickups. The sound of a guitar is a combination of body wood, neck wood, fretboard, bridge, pickups, electronics, and everything together.
