He looked less like a groom and more like a man held hostage, his smile tight and his eyes darting away from the camera.

I scrolled past a video of my mother clinking crystal glasses with a countess who looked suspiciously like a hired actor. My stomach churned. I knew the math. I was a senior financial analyst; numbers were my language, and the numbers of my parents' life had been in the red for a decade. They had refinanced their home twice.
