🚆 Das S-Bahn-Netz Köln / Rheinland – Überblick & Fahrzeuge

Netz & Linien:

Die S-Bahn Köln umfasst aktuell 5 Linien (S6, S11, S12, S19, S68) und wird in Zukunft auf ca. 10 Linien ausgebaut.

Sie verbindet Köln mit vielen umliegenden Regionen. Beispiele:
• S11: Flughafen Düsseldorf ↔ Köln ↔ Bergisch Gladbach
• S12: Horrem/Sindorf ↔ Köln ↔ Au (Sieg)
• S19: Düren / Aachen-Düren ↔ Köln ↔ Troisdorf ↔ Hennef ↔ Au (Sieg)
• S6: Köln ↔ Essen (teilweise) etc.

Netzgröße: Das S-Bahn-System Köln hat etwa 310 km Streckenlänge.


🔹 Fahrzeuge im Einsatz & Modernisierung:

Insgesamt werden 123 Fahrzeuge der Baureihen ET 424, ET 423 und ET 422 umfassend modernisiert (bis Ende 2026).

Davon sind 24 Fahrzeuge der Baureihe ET 424 bereits modernisiert (ab April 2024) im Einsatz.

Es gibt 99 Fahrzeuge der Baureihen ET 422 + 423, die schon eingesetzt werden und die ebenfalls modernisiert werden sollen.

Die Baureihe 423 bildet das Rückgrat der Flotte mit 63 Garnituren.

Betreiber: DB Regio NRW unter Auftrag von go.Rheinland & VRR.

Investitionen & Modernisierung sind Teil eines großen Ausbaus, Ziel ist mehr Linien, dichtere Takte und mehr Kapazität.

🚆 The Cologne / Rhineland S-Bahn network – Overview & vehicles
Network & Lines:

The Cologne S-Bahn currently comprises 5 lines (S6, S11, S12, S19, S68) and will be expanded to approximately 10 lines in the future.

It connects Cologne with many surrounding regions. Examples:
• S11: Düsseldorf Airport ↔ Cologne ↔ Bergisch Gladbach
• S12: Horrem/Sindorf ↔ Cologne ↔ Au (Sieg)
• S19: Düren / Aachen-Düren ↔ Cologne ↔ Troisdorf ↔ Hennef ↔ Au (Sieg)
• S6: Cologne ↔ Essen (partially) etc.

Network Size: The Cologne S-Bahn system has a total length of approximately 310 km.

🔹 Vehicles in Service & Modernization:

A total of 123 vehicles of the ET 424, ET 423, and ET 422 series will be comprehensively modernized (by the end of 2026).

Of these, 24 vehicles of the ET 424 series have already been modernized (from April 2024) and are in service.

There are 99 vehicles of the ET 422 and 423 series that are already in service and are also scheduled to be modernized.

The 423 series forms the backbone of the fleet with 63 trainsets.

Operator: DB Regio NRW under contract with go.Rheinland & VRR.

Investments and modernization are part of a major expansion project, the goal being more lines, more frequent intervals, and increased capacity.
