No, the thumbnail is not a joke. According to David Twohy, who would know, much like every other prop in Hollywood the original scale model of the Hunter-Gratzner was lost for a time, and then showed up in none other than Peter Jackson's collection.
I guess it's a fitting mantlepiece for his castle of money.
