3340 Miles in a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle. Crossing the United States from West to East in a VW bug

Описание: My son and I bought a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle and drive it on an epic road trip from Spokane, Washington to Greenville, South Carolina. Along the way we cross the mountains, visit National Parks, rumble over the backroads of Utah, explore Route 66 and the forgotten byways of America, visit family and spend 10 days and over 3300 miles in a fully loaded Volkswagen bug.
If your a fan of P.O.V. driving videos then you'll enjoy this. What the videos lack in narration, they made up for in epic scenery and great roads to drive. If your looking for a screen saver, or a way to waste an hour and a half then you'll also like this.
Breakdown of days on the road:
Prep day in Spokane, ran through the bug and sorted out a few issues with the bug. Stopped by HOOK's Air-cooled Shop www..facebook.com/HooksAirCooled for lots of spare parts and advice on the upcoming trip. Absolutely the best VW shop in the area!
-Day1 - Spokane Washington to Ontario Oregon
370 miles, snow and wind through Washington and Idaho
-Day2 - Ontario Oregon to Salt Lake City
400 miles, Stopped in Boise Idaho at RMF VW repair shop www.rmfvw.com for some advice and a few spare parts. Great Shop! Also stopped in Salt Lake at Bob's VW Shop and found some great stuff and good prices.
-Day3 - Salt Lake to Moab
270 miles, hit up a few museums along hyw6 in Price Utah and capped the day off with a scenic drive through Canyonland National Park.
-Day4 -Moab to Monument Valley
210 miles, lots of fun stops, and capped the day off with Bridges National Monument and the challenging Moki Dugway
-Day5 - Monument Valley to Gallup New Mexico
190 miles, Against a lot of advice we took the dirt drive around Monument valley and then drove backroads to Gallup, where we stayed at the historic El Rancho Hotel.
-Day6 - Gallup to Tucumcari
350 miles, We finally hit up all the sites on Route 66 that we can find and drive as much of the historic road as possible, ending with a stay at the Iconic Blue Swallow Motel. www.blueswallowmotel.com
-Day7 - Tucumcari to Oklahoma City
400 miles, another big day on Route66 as we spend most of it in Texas.
-Day8 - OKC - Bentonville Arkansas
250 miles, Our last day on the Mother Road, finishing at the Blue Whale and then headed to Arkansas for Thanksgiving with family.
-Rest Day - Family time and basic maintenance on the VW bug.
-Day9 - Arkansas to Alabama
550 miles, we cannonball the bug through three states and cross the Mississippi River, just trying to get miles behind us.
-Day10 - Last push for home.
350 miles, another fast push for home with a little bravery, navigating Atlanta traffic in a classic car that is gets passed by everyone.
