Join Grant as we relaunch our Faction Overview Series in the shade of the Season 6 Update with some of the best tactical minds within the "A Song of Ice & Fire: The Miniatures Game" community, the aim of this series is not only to offer advice and support to new players tentatively taking their first steps into the game but also to help experienced player understand their faction a little better.

Within the cold, damp walls of Pyke resides House Greyjoy Lords of Iron Islands, ruled by the King of Salt and Rock - Balon Greyjoy.

When one talks of the Ironborn we can’t help but speak of the dreaded Iron fleet. One of the largest forming of longships in the entire of the seven kingdoms, rivalling that of the Royal Fleet from the Crownlands and rightly so, the fleet of the Ironborn should be strong. They’ve spent the entire of their existence raiding neighbouring coasts to survive, for they pay the iron price….. not the gold. When the black sails and golden Kraken appear on the horizon, death will surely follow - dragging Westeros screaming into the dark abyssal realm of the Drowned God.

On the tabletop, House Greyjoy’s pillaging and raiding is represented by their pillage mechanic. Allowing them to increase their threat level as they destroy the enemy. Allowing them to truly build momentum!

They offer a budding general a decent amount of healing potential, cheap activations and an incredibly hard hitter with the right cards and more elite units. With cool characters like Balon’s brothers the aggressive Victarion - who sails the seas wearing full plate mail, Euron - who drinks night shade to fuel his belief he is the drowned god incarnate or Aeron - who’s belief in the drowned god has driven him to commit a life to the faith to choose from not to mention the kraken kings children - the Prince of Winterfell, Theon and the Krakens Daughter, Asha. Rest assured this faction has something for everyone…. Except cavalry.
