Sydney is one of the first major cities in the world to welcome in the New Year. It is Universal Coordinated Time +11 hours during the summer daylight savings time (now). That makes it about 17 hours ahead of the West Coast (Los Angeles), and 14 hours ahead of the East Coast (New York) in the United States. It's 9 hours ahead of London, and 2 hours ahead of Tokyo.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge Fireworks are an annual celebration. Thousands flock to the inner city to watch the event, and feel incredibly squeezed in together! It's much more comfortable watching here!

We will run high quality sound on the night though we don't normally run sound on this live stream. The sound may be off or running at very low levels for the duration of the night, to avoid catching any songs playing at neighbouring parties, but it will be raised for the fireworks.
