The Kerala Home Department has come out with a new rule stating that no hijab will be allowed with uniforms for student police cadets. This comes after the Supreme Court asked for the Government's stand on the matter. The Home Department has said that 'religious symbols may interfere with the secular nature' of the Police. This comes after a hijab controversy brewed in Karnataka where certain Government colleges banned the wearing of hijabs in the classrooms.
