This is a basic lecture on Medical Imaging Information Systems.
This lecture briefly covers topics including the history of digital medical imaging, imaging information representation, image encoding and display, digital image characteristics, technological definitions, storage devices in medical imaging, PACS, the DICOM standard and DICOM files, broader applications of DICOM such as DICONDE, DICOM metadata, SOP classes, HL7 (Healthcare Level 7), IHE integration profiles, image compression, and radiation dose structured reports (RDSRs).
