Today was a very special milestone for our family as we celebrated Omiyamairi for our daughter, Miyabi. This traditional Japanese rite of passage marks a baby's first visit to a shrine, typically held around 31 to 33 days after birth to pray for their health and happiness.
We headed back to Miyazaki Shrine, the same beautiful place where Azu and I were married, to carry out the ceremony. However, the day didn't go exactly as planned! Azu’s mom forgot the most important thing—Miyabi’s kimono.
Despite the wardrobe mishap at the main ceremony, we still had a wonderful day:
A Special Location: Returning to our wedding shrine with our new daughter.
Traditional Luck: We pulled our first Omikuji (fortunes) of the year.
Family Effort: How we managed to get those precious kimono photos in the end.
Celebration: Ending the exhausting but rewarding day with a family sushi lunch.
Being a parent in Japan is full of learning experiences, and this "exhausting" day was certainly one we won't forget. Thanks for being part of Miyabi's journey!
