The reality of IIM Indore is that no matter how many certificates you have, you won't even see the interview room if you don't clear the sectional cut-offs. Whether you are an Olympic gold medalist or have a dozen NGO internships, the system prioritized written exam performance above all else.

Academic Viva vs. Job Interview: Recent IIM Indore interviews are "academic vivas" that often last only 10 minutes; they are designed to test your potential and academic competence, not your hobbies.

The Cut-off Barrier: You cannot talk about your achievements if you don't clear the cut-offs for SA, MCQ and VA sections.

The AIR 4 Example: In 2023, the All India Rank 4 candidate wrote "Not Applicable" in the ECA section of their profile and still got in.

Profile Insecurity: Many students focus on building a profile 3–6 months before the exam because they are scared of the written test and want to "fool their minds" into feeling prepared.

Value of Certificates: Barrier-to-entry matters. A "Google Garage" or Coursera certificate carries very little weight because anyone can get them in five minutes.

Academic Competence: You must be able to answer fundamentals—like the difference between a P&L and a Balance Sheet or Newton's Laws—to be considered academically inclined.

ECAs are the cherry on the cake... don't ignore the cake (exam + academics).
