In this classic interview clip from Oct. 1979, the legendary commentator Gordon Solie interviews Hulk Hogan when he was a young, unpolished prospect known as Sterling Golden during his time with Georgia Championship Wrestling.
This is a fascinating look at the early career of the Hulkster as he cuts a promo with a style that is much different from the iconic character he developed into.
Golden shows flashes of intensity, but his delivery is raw and a bit rough around the edges – a stark contrast to the electrifying interviews he'd conduct throughout the remainder of his career.
Golden would join WWF a few months after this interview for a short run, and then return four years later, which led to his iconic run as Hulkamania took over wrestling.
