Officials say the measure, approved by royal decree, will allow eligible migrants to apply for temporary residence and work permits. Applicants must have arrived before 31 December 2025, prove at least five months of residence and have no criminal record. Applications will open between April and June. Authorities estimate more than 840,000 undocumented migrants live in Spain, many working in agriculture, tourism and services. The move follows sustained pressure from civil society groups and comes as other countries tighten immigration policies.
