Описание: The avalanche that buried my husband and three friends with it was the closest to death any of them had been. Here’s the story of what happened back country skiing on our latest trip to the North Cascades. The beginning of this video is footage from our ski trip, the avalanche shown was a simulation cut from that footage. I wasn’t skiing the day the cornice broke free taking my ski partners 1,000’ down the mountain, but to get an idea I’ve put together footage of before and after the event. The key with avalanche safety is to NEVER put yourself in an area that could slide in the first place, never ski or snowboard under wind loaded cornices, never go into the mountains, skiing, snowboarding or mountaineering without safety equipment and always know the snow conditions and check them at every elevation. Attend avalanche training courses in your area, in the Pacific Northwest the Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) is a wealth of information about reported slides and snow conditions for Oregon and Washington state, find the organization in your area and check conditions daily; even then, slides happen. Life is dangerous both on and off of the couch, but the beauty and majesty of being in the mountains is as much a part of my spirit as breathing is. We have all been humbled but his experience, thank God each of those boys walked away from this event. Here’s the story.
