Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar is a great day trip from Mandalay. We took the local transportation there, a pick-up, which was a really cool experience in itself. The mountain town was once a British hill station. It has a Big Ben style clock tower, and is known for its dairy. After grabbing some Burmese food, we had a couple milkshakes and then enjoyed the local market. Pyin Oo Lwin's market may be the best market in Myanmar. It's colorful, clean, and not too hot.
