Luke 5:1-11
Jesus doesn’t wait for the polished version of you to call you. In Luke 5 He turns from the crowds to Simon and meets him where he is and as he is, calls him into deep water. In this study we explore how Jesus (1) cares for us, (2) challenges us, and (3) moves us into action — together.
Where’s your deep water in this next season — a place you’ll trade comfort, convenience, or control for obedience?
🧭 This Week’s Focus:
Into Deep Water: Jesus
Care → Challenge → Action: Jesus meets us where we are and leads us out of our zone of comfort, control and convenience, towards action.
📖 Key Verse:
“Put out into deep water, and let down your nets for a catch…” — Luke 5:4
❤️ Key Gospel Reminder:
Jesus doesn’t wait for the polished “future me.” He loves and calls the now-me, and by His grace turns reluctant obedience into a miracle of transformation — in us and through us.
💡 Key ideas:
Jesus’ vision is for the world and the one: he turns his attention from the crowds to Simon.
“God does not need us but He delights to work with us.”
He calls us as we are (Simon), not as we will be (Peter).
Deep water = the place we grow: where comfort, convenience, and control are surrendered.
Expectancy matters: Jesus sends us for a catch, not to look busy.
