Level 1 IRATA and SPRAT Rope Access Training video featuring how to pass a knot in the main working line or backup, and considerations to take into account when doing so.
Knots complicate access, egress, and rescue. They reduce the strength of the rope. It is not a good practice to leave existing knots in place on working ropes. However, they may be used as a temporary solution to isolate a damaged section of rope, or join ropes of inadequate length.
During the Level One training course, students receive hands on training on how to perform this and other maneuvers under the supervision of qualified IRATA & SPRAT instructors. All registered students will be granted access to the full length version of all Level One Training exercises videos which feature step by step instructions on each maneuver.
The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) and the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) are internationally recognized standards for rope access work. Certification is attained by completing a 4-day course, then passing a written, oral and practical test administered by an independent IRATA Assessor or SPRAT Evaluator.
