Then Austin hit Lita with a stunner. On Smackdown, they were cutting a promo, Jeff came out and hit Triple H with a chair and then Austin. Stephanie slapped him and Jeff hit a twist of fate on her. Then Triple H demanded Jeff from William Regal. They met that evening for the intercontinental title. Jeff went for the swanton bomb but Triple H pushed the referee into the ropes. The ref pushed him and then he pushed him back. Matt came out and hit Triple H with the chair, Jeff hit a swanton bomb and then pinned him to become the new champion. A rematch happened on Raw. Austin attacked Matt backstage. Lita went to check on him but Austin came out. Then Triple H hit Jeff with a pedigree to regain the title. Austin started to hit Jeff with a belt. Matt came out to get hit by a chair. Austin hit him too. Then Triple H hit Jeff with a chair. Until the brothers of destructions arrived to scare them away.
