VHS Ham follows the short journey of my cat Ham from the back porch to the shade in a small niche between the old feijoa and peach trees to where he sits in his favourite little spot in the long grass. Blue agave, greek oregano, mint, lemon balm also surrounded this area and why I think he loved it so much.

This was shot on my grandfathers old National VHS camera that I have converted to record to digital, in the same house that he built three decades prior on our old family farm, he always had interesting tech things and is the sole reason I gained an interest in photography and film-making. They also had many cats that lived on the farm that inhabited the shed dealing with rodents and general hunting. I lived there for 8 years before buying my own place last year. Ham also came with me and is my best friend and life companion we have a great kinship and share many great moments together. This film celebrates his soft and sensitive nature and the calming energy he brings to my life.

I consider, through my own genealogy, that my grandfather and that farm was the seed of all things creative for me, and Ham, the grounding energy needed for me to thrive.
