Welcome to Season 5!
Welcome back! As we dove head first into season 5, we found ourselves with every intention to do the Arkansas High Country Bike Route but our plans fell apart quickly. We had packed our touring bikes into the van and really wanted to do a bike tour but found ourselves with no where to go. As the winter temps got colder we needed to find something south. With a quick google search we found the Southern Tier Route, which we thought would be too much for Melvin's first bike tour, and the Texas Hill Country Route. Not having spent too much time in Texas we figured why not give it a try.
The Texas Hill Country Route is a 316ish mile loop that we decided to start and end in Austin, Texas. In today's video, we take you from Austin to the small town of Martindale, Texas. This was Melvin's first introduction to bike packing and we were not sure how it would go. Overall, he did a great job! Join us as we bike 40.2 miles from Austin to Martindale, Texas!
