Weymouth Tramway Special

Описание: I have had this video in my possession for many years and have only just rediscovered it.
It is a fantastic 30 minute special on the, now defunct, Weymouth Quay Tramway.
The film was made (not by me) in the 1990s and, in the first part, we see a special test train traversing the tramway on 25 March 1993.
This was a prelude to a service of shuttles that were to run from Weymouth Town to Weymouth Quay on 3 April 1993.
The train consisted of a 4-TC set, in early BR blue livery, topped and tailed by Class 37, Nº 37038 in RailFreight livery and Class 73 Electro-diesel, Nº 73109 'Battle of Britain 50th Anniversary' in NSE livery.
This was the first train to use the branch since a Centenary Excursion, organized by BR to commemorate 100 years of Channel Island Boat Trains, had run along it in 1989.
The second part of the film features the inaugural run of the 'Paradise Flyer' on 3 June 1993, organized by the Scottish-based, on-train catering specialist "Paradise Catering'.
This was to be the forerunner to a series of regular return trips from the pier head to Yeovil Pen Mill and even had a Scottish piper at the head of the train.
The train formation, this time, consisted of Class 37, 37408 'Loch Rannoch' in Large Logo livery, plus six Mk2 coaches in Regional Railways livery.
This time the filming was done from onboard the train.
Finally there are some brief views from the train as it travels to Dorchester West station and, then, on to Yeovil Pen Mill.
It was produced by Classic Media, a small company based in the South West of England who, as far as I can tell from my research, are no longer in business.
I have also been unable to find it on DVD, which is a great shame since this is a terrific film of a much-missed branch line which, had the powers that be had more foresight, could have become a great tourist attraction for the town.
Please forgive the poor quality of the film but I believe its rarity more than compensates for that.
