Spooling a reel with braided line is significantly different than filling a spool with mono. Unlike mono, the braid must have a considerable amount of pressure applied to pack it tightly on the spool - much more so than mono. Packing braided line tightly ensures the line will not bury itself under a load.
In this short video we are spooling 2,500 yards of 80lb Jerry Brown braid on to a LPS-1200. This customer will be using this for Deep Dropping.
The tension winder you see in the video spooling the LP reel is set at between 20 and 25lbs of pressure (drag). It can be set as high as 35lbs.
If you look closely you will see the line burying itself in the spool it’s coming off of, while laying perfectly on the LP spool. This Tournament Cable spooling set-up ensures your reels have been spooled to perfection by professionals, and are ready to be used with confidence.
