Daizan Roshi likens the path of practice to the story archetype of the animal bridegroom as told in the Beauty and the Beast. When we can bring a motherly/feminine love and acceptance to the beastly aspects of ourself then we become one with them. Our job is to bring our awareness right to the centre of the suffering and accept it as fully as we can.

Over many years of strict training, in Japan and the west, Julian Daizan Skinner Roshi received dharma transmission and permission to teach in both the Rinzai and Soto lineages of Zen.
