The situation reached a boiling point at dismissal that afternoon when a 13-year-old girl boarded her school bus and saw a boy showing one of the fake images on his phone. The girl confronted him and then slapped the boy.

Soon after, several other students joined in on the assault, videos of which were widely shared online without the full context of the situation. Amid initial outrage over the beating caught on video, the girl was expelled from school for the remainder of the Fall 2025 term.

Several weeks later, the girl and her family were somewhat vindicated when local sheriff's investigators were able to trace the AI-generated images back to two boys at the school, both of whom were charged with crimes under a new Louisiana law for distributing sexually explicit AI materials. One boy was charged in November, and another in early December.
