Week One /// Seán’s Song a Week
How’s everyone? I’m drawing great inspiration from friends of mine doing various challenges involving learning, composing, recording and uploading music on a regular basis in 2025 and I’m planting my feet firmly on that same bandwagon.
It often happens that I’ll sing a song at a gig or in a session and I’ll be asked if I’ve recorded it to which the answer is always no; I’ve yet to record anything that I haven’t composed myself although I have plans to do so. In the mean time, I’ve decided to post a video of a song every week this year. Some will be traditional, some will be written by others more recently and a handful will be my own.
I’m decided to start with my favourite at the moment; Thom Moore’s wonderful Patrick Kavanagh tribute ‘Gorgeous and Bright’. I’ve chosen it partially because I can’t stop singing it these days but also because of its snowy and fireplace-infused imagery - the right job for the day that’s in it.
