Archival enclosures are ideal for the physical support and protection of an object. In the case of a bound atlas from the Town of Wellesley in Massachusetts, the single pages were disbound and joined together—creating one complete atlas across two pages, resulting in a volume double the size of the original. In this Conservation Short, Ned Schultz, Book Conservation Technician at NEDCC, shares his design of an archival enclosure that houses both the original binding and the new post-bound volume in one box.
