When Lieutenant Simpson questions Sue Ellen about her baby’s disappearance, she blames herself. J.R. informs Simpson on the automobile accident where she and her baby almost died in, and J.R. also tells Simpson how depressed Sue Ellen is. Simpson warns J.R. not to do anything foolish in case the kidnappers get in touch. Jock continues to tend to sick cattle until he gets word that Miss Ellie wants him back to the house. Lucy gets picked up from school because Miss Ellie wants her home as well.
