2025 was a landmark year for the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), defined by bold leadership, strengthened partnerships, and measurable progress in advancing diagnostics and laboratory systems across Africa.
Throughout the year, ASLM delivered regional and in-country workforce training, provided targeted technical support to national laboratory systems, and deepened collaboration with global and regional partners.
Key highlights from 2025 include:
• The ASLM Special Convention on Diagnostics in Nairobi
• Launch of Afri-EQA, LEAD, and PAMTA projects
• Release of the ASLM Podcast and ASLM’s first-ever Annual Report
• Launch of the ASLM Ambassador Program
• Hosting major convenings, including Biosafety and Biosecurity trainings, the Integrated Genomic Surveillance (IGS) Annual Meeting in Nairobi, and the Mastercard Foundation Saving Lives and Livelihoods – Pathogen Genomics Phase II Close-Out Meeting
• Expanded workforce training, in-country technical support, and new strategic partnerships
