Hello everything! Here we go again with 16 wild sydes from the sixties’ grave! This was intended in a Back From The Grave spirit, where all garage punk passions start! Of course, it would be presumptuous to speak of a Back From The Grave #11, but there is a great load of killer tracks here anyway!
Let’s dig out what we can find about these ones!
A1- We’ve already met The Next Of Kin in the Vol. 12 of this series. Refers to its notes! Here is the A side of their issued single.
United Audio - 80136 (Jan 1968)
A2- The Blacksheep was a band from La Canada, CA. They issued 3 singles between 1965 and 1967. The two last ones were issued on Columbia, including their best known song “It’s My Mind”. This comes from their first single. Both sides written by Bellis Harman.
Bellcor – BEL-102 (Mar 1965)
A3- Band from Michigan, that would eventually evolve in Preston (on Sound Patterns Records). The A side “As Long As I’m Around” was compiled 4 times, but I prefer this side! Paul Blakeley was also in The Magic Band.
Stone Age Records – A-001 (1966)
A4- Thus issued one album on Century in 1968, titled All Of Thus, which is sadly all of what they recorded. Only John Johnston, who wrote all the originals by the band, had a musical career after this.
Century Records – 27916 (1968)
A5- J. Goon And The Belvederes was a band from Concord, N.H. that consisted of two sets of brothers, Mike and Bucky Foley, Wayne and Gary Brockney, and Jimmy Audet (the one who is J. Goon). They issued one nice single on Fleetwood. This is the B side. Full story here: https://thebasementwalls.blogspot.com...
Fleetwood Records – FL 4562 (1966)
A6- Fifth Row Bac is a mystery band from Eugene, Oregon, that issued one single. The other killer side was compiled on Total Raunch! The songs are written by Rex Morton and Eric Chandler.
Graves – GRS-1100 (1967)
A7- The Chain Reaction was a band from Chicago, IL. They issued one amazing single, issued with a very hard to find but hilarious sleeve where you can see the only known pictures of the members, at 1 years of age.
Delicks Records – I.D.M. 18-28 (1968)
A8- The Vectors was a band from Missouri, active for about two years. Their sole single was recorded in St. Louis, Mo., in December of 1967 and released in February 1968. The other side, “Paisley Haze” was compiled on Yesterday’s Dawn.
Delic – TS-XM475/TS-XM476 (Feb 1968)
B1- The Royal Colony was a band from Nelsonville, Ohio active from 1967 to 1970. They recorded their only single in Dayton at a local studio, on which the name of the band was not even written, so they had to press it a second time. Both sides are amazing. A second single was announced but never released, one song was titled “10 O’Clock Buying Time”. Full story here: http://buckeyebeat.com/royalcolony.html
Pixie – 80803 (Aug 1968)
B2- The Panics issued two singles on a label from San Marcos, TX. All four songs were originals. This is the A side of their first single. No names figure on the label.
Rosina – RA-137 (1965)
B3- The Pitiful Panics was a band from Alamogordo High School, Alamogordo, NM that issued one sole single.
Yucca Records – 190 (Dec 1965)
B4- The Kruisers was a band from Pennsylvania. They issued three singles between 1965 and 1967, the last one under the name The Lost Ones, compiled on Garage Punk Unknowns. This is their first single. Most songs are written by James T. Robeson.
Kiski – 2068 (1965)
B5- The Tiles was a band from southwest Germany, formed in 1966. Two songs, including this one, were recorded in a Radio/TV station after they won a Battle Of The Bands. Both remained unreleased until 2000.
Saarlaendischer Rundfunk session (Summer 1966)
B6- The Decades was a band from Cincinnati, Ohio, previously known as The Rock-Its in the 1950s. They issued this lone single in 1967, pretty wylde! Full story here: http://buckeyebeat.com/rockits.html
Emanon Records - E-102 (1966)
